Are you a runner, cyclist or triathlete looking for a sports-specific yoga or pilates class? My style of teaching is fitness-focused so you’ll feel right at home in one of my online classes. In my yoga classes, I also bring in elements of mindfulness from my studies in psychology and hypnotherapy to help you stay in the present moment and learn how to shift the focus of your attention. This is a strategy that’s really helpful when it comes to running, cycling and triathlon events. I’m a big believer that much of running and cycling performance is down to what’s going on in your mind too.
Being a previous triathlete, I personally understand the needs of runners and cyclists as I’ve trained meticulously for both! There’s nothing worse than tight muscles holding you back on your next run or ride. There’s also no doubt that regular stretching can help prevent tightness and injury. This is where yoga can be particularly helpful.
It’s also important for runners and cyclists to have a strong core to prevent back issues and strengthen performance. Pilates is fantastic for strengthening the core and I’m trained to teach this too. I have to say, pilates has done wonders for my back! Many sports people swear by pilates to keep them at the top of their game, including tennis’ Andrew Murray, basketball’s Kobe Bryant, Olympian Missy Franklin, diver David Boudia, golfer Tiger Woods and footballers Harry Kane and Gareth Bale.
